ラオス―ベトナム間の国境を決める作業が完了

6月9日に、ラオス―ベトナム間の国境を決める作業が完了したというセレモニーが行われた。もちろんこれまでも国境はあったのだが、ポイント数が少なくあいまいな場所も多かったということだ。 

これまでの国境線は1977年7月に策定したものを使っており、199地点で214個のマーカーを使っていた。 
今回新しく決められた国境線は、2008年から作業を開始しており、793地点で835個のマーカーに増えた。 
つまりおよそ4倍に点数が増えた。 

国境線の精密化は、以下に貢献するという。 
New markers will improve border management, consolidate the security and defense of both nations, facilitate socio-economic development in border areas and create an environment of peace, friendship and cooperation along the borderline between Vietnam and Laos. 


社会主義的な文脈ではconsolidateという単語はよく使われる。
